Types of Networks

2 Types of Networks:
  • Peer-to-Peer
  • Client/Server
Peer-to-Peer:
Each Device in the network communicate with other devices directly and shares Files, Printers and Scanners.

Client/Server:
  • Suitable for larger networks
  • Server acts as storage location for files and shared application on that network
  • Server controls client computers

Network Interface Card (NIC):
  • A NIC (pronounced 'nick') is also known as a network card
  • It connects the computer to the Twisted pair cable, which in turn links all of the computers on the network together
  • Each computer on a network must have a network card
  • Computers with a wireless connection to a network also use a network card
