Types of Networks
2 Types of Networks:
- Peer-to-Peer
- Client/Server
Peer-to-Peer:
Each Device in the network communicate with other devices directly and shares Files, Printers and Scanners.
Client/Server:
- Suitable for larger networks
- Server acts as storage location for files and shared application on that network
- Server controls client computers
Network Interface Card (NIC):
- A NIC (pronounced 'nick') is also known as a network card
- It connects the computer to the Twisted pair cable, which in turn links all of the computers on the network together
- Each computer on a network must have a network card
- Computers with a wireless connection to a network also use a network card
